A slow start!
The first SML match,even at home,was obviously unappealing,despite some 80 e-mails!
We were never going to contest the match, even at this level, but a mere 10 athletes was disappointing to say the least, though the returning SML-BAL rule was a factor.
The fixture was thus the opportunity for individual honing and George Corcoran took that opportunity by wrecking his 800 PB by several seconds, clocking 2.00.3(2A);Jordan Smith-Bent(1A 11.2) and U17 Tucker Bryant(1B 11.5) looked sharp, whilst Pat Logan(about to exit the M45 group) served notice on the country's M50 sprinters by running 24.0 for 2nd over 200. Richard Smeaton,Dida Alsaffar,Matt Hyett & Mike Clarke all claimed 2nd places but we were a distant last in the match.
Gordon Lester(PV 4m00)and Danny Eckersley(57.7 400Hurdles,and all the way from IoW) took the opportunity for non-scoring competition and coach Richard Holt set the example for his competing athletes by winning his 400Hurdles,as well as reminding his B&B TM that he was still in BAL contention!
